Knowing very little about specific denominations, including the AG, I began research. Wikipedia is one of my favorite sources for quick, Internet-based research. I read all there was about the AG church and as much as I could cram in my head about the different schisms in Christianity over doctrine.
Some things I know about myself are that I do not like to be told what to think, and that I like to be presented with information so that I can come to conclusions on my own. I consider debate and discussion of ideas healthy not only for the participants, but also for the expansion of the subject matter, itself. For those reasons, I am not well suited to practice certain ecclesiological doctrines and denominations, such as the Catholic or Eastern Orthodox churches. I view both as having dogma too modified by the hands of man and time. Further, I find no need for a priestly cast in order to receive salvation. So, as I work to define myself in religious terms, I have already determined that I must be a Protestant.
